Captain America Actor Caught Burning American Flag at Protest
Footage shows the film star torching Old Glory while chanting "Death to America" at an anti-America protest in Hollywood.
Hollywood, CA – In what is being described as the most spectacular PR disaster since Rachel Zegler's last tweet, actor Anthony Wackie, the star of Marvel’s upcoming film "Captain America: Orange Man Bad," has been caught setting fire to an American flag while chanting “Death to America” at Hollywood’s third annual "Red, White & Screwed" march against American exceptionalism.
Wackie, who plays the race-swapped black Captain America (dubbed by some as “Captain African American”), initially managed to avoid identification—until he briefly removed his face mask to apply cold sore medication, unwittingly exposing himself to bystanders filming the spectacle.
The actor, seen standing alongside members of the radical communist group "The Anti Anti-Fascists," was reportedly heard chanting inflammatory anti-American slogans as the flames engulfed Old Glory. The shocking moment might have gone unnoticed had it not been for a sharp-eyed TMZ reporter who recognized Wackie from the movie’s trailer, where he delivers the now-infamous line: "Equity above equality, comrades."
Within hours, Marvel Studios entered full-on DEFCON 1 damage control mode, scrambling to assure outraged fans and investors that the film is totally not anti-American, and that the subtitle "Orange Man Bad" has nothing to do with Donald Trump. Instead, the studio insists that the new supervillain, "The Tangerine Tyrant," is simply a coincidence—despite the character’s bad bleached blonde comb-over and slogan "Make America Evil Again."
Faced with mounting backlash, Anthony Wackie delivered a public apology so absurdly forced and insincere it made Mark Zuckerberg look like George Washington. "I deeply regret my artistic expression being misinterpreted. The flag-burning was actually a performance piece meant to highlight the struggles of marginalized voices who feel oppressed by, uh… stars and stripes?"
True to form, Marvel Studios followed up by not-so-subtly shifting blame onto the audience in a press release statement. "We understand some fans may not be ready for the bold, progressive storytelling of 'Captain America: Orange Man Bad.' If the movie under performs, we must acknowledge the unfortunate reality that systemic racism continues to plague the box office."
While such antics might have been tolerated or even celebrated during the golden age of woke Hollyweird, the industry has been forced to adapt since Donald Trump’s reelection stunned the entertainment world. Identity politics and blatant ideological propaganda masquerading as superhero cinema will no longer fly, pun intended, and Hollyweird is finally learning the hard way that ostracizing half your audience is bad for business.
Disney, which owns Marvel, once an unstoppable cinematic force, has been bleeding fans in recent years due to increasingly politicized storytelling, unrecognizable legacy characters, and scripts that feel like rejected fanfic from Reddit. With franchise fatigue hitting an all-time high, even longtime supporters are demanding actual entertainment instead of lectures. Although many sadly acknowledge it's too late for Star Wars.
As for Wackie, sources say Marvel is still debating whether to stand by him or throw him under the bus. In the meantime, insiders report that Disney executives have convened an emergency meeting to discuss whether they can salvage the situation by casting a disabled, nonbinary Captain America for the sequel. Either way, "Captain America: Orange Man Bad" is set to hit theaters this summer—assuming there are any theaters left willing to screen it.
